Fad diet?…
It’s easy to dismiss the Whole30 as a “quick fix” fad diet, but to do so would be to overlook this plan’s many health benefits. This 30-day plan eliminates inflammation-causing, gut-disrupting, and hormone-unbalancing foods all in an effort to detox your body and attain food freedom; your innate power over food and cravings. Whole30 focuses on whole foods that heal our bodies and helps to maintain our weight in a healthy way.
Benefits…
The Whole30 provides many health benefits that thousands of participants have reported over the years. Here are some, just to name a few:
– balance immune system
– restore healthy metabolism
– crush food cravings
– eliminate/reduce bad habits
– reduce/heal digestive issues
– end emotional eating
– learn how to eat healthy foods
– clear skin issues
– sleep better
– stabilize mood
– banish mid-day exhaustion
– increase energy
– feel and look younger
– relieve pain
What to avoid…
Let’s look at the foods that have detrimental effects on our bodies. You won’t find any of these on the Whole30:
1. Alcohol in any form (all vinegars are fine, though)
2. Added sugar (except a small amount of fruit juice)
3. Grains
4. Legumes (except green beans, snow peas, snap peas)
5. Dairy (except ghee or clarified butter)
6. Carrageenan, MSG, Sulfites
7. Baked goods, junk food, or treats with “approved” ingredients (These are called SWYPO – Sex With Your Pants On)
While on a Whole30 round, you will avoid the foods that fall into the above categories for 30 days then slowly introduce each category, closely monitoring how your body reacts to each re-introduction. When planning your Whole30 round, you have to block out more than 30 days. I usually give myself 45-50 days to complete a Whole30 round plus re-introduction period.
Should you join in on the fun?….
Are you feeling exhausted? Suffer from chronic pain? Do you suffer from sleeplessness? Feeling bloated? Have an unhealthy relationship with food? Do you want to lose some weight? Do cravings sabotage your best intentions? Are you looking to feel better overall?
If you answered “YES” to any of these, then a Whole30 reset might be exactly what you need. Committing to a program that values your health and well-being is an absolute gift.
